We’re all in such a hurry to create instant gratification and quick results that some of us never think long-term.
Most of the sales of internet marketing and Social Media courses are thriving on the fact that people are desperate to buy into instant success.
I was lucky to be made aware of this early on in my online education. Mike Klingler in Marketing Funnel Mastery is all about taking a long-term approach to your business.
I am not saying that I have been immune to the odd ‘Build Your List Quickly’ scheme, and I have now identified the true teachers in the Internet Marketing space. So people ask me – then why haven’t you made your fortune yet?
Why Aren’t You An Online Millionaire?
It’s interesting to discover recently that one of the strategies that helped me through the past two years has been damaging to my long-term success.
When my partner died I found it difficult to plan or set goals more than a few days ahead. Slowly that became a few weeks and eventually a couple of months.
Long term success can only be planned for long-term. It’s about looking at a couple of years ahead. What is the future I/you want to create for myself/yourself in 2 to 5 years, now?
The relief is that I feel in the position to address it and to step back and answer this question for the first time (long term) for over two years.
Like any business an Online Business takes time to show Long-term results
I have established how I want to build my business, and I have a good list of products and niches. I have a big plan long-term, a big vision, my ‘why’.
Where I wanted to rush before, I have learned the benefits and wisdom of patience and consistent small steps, rather than eating the elephant all at once.
I’ve learned that we grow into success. It’s tough being successful if you don’t know how to handle it or what to do with it to leverage it going forward.
When I’m down I have a tendency to over criticise and beat myself up and that’s not helpful for anyone to do. I am learning to acknowledge my growth, to allow my mistakes and to acknowledge all that I have learned along the path to where I am now.
Yes I have so much more to learn, and always will.
There will always be those ahead of me. Mastery is realising that when you think you’ve reached the end, you’ve reached th beginning of another learning curve.
And there are specific areas where I would like to see a fast improvement and I’m taking the time out to really step back and learn from the best, detach from my performance this far and plan how best to move forward, with my eye on the longer term.
What’s Your Plan?
Are you moving toward your next ‘quick win’ or are you building a longer term strategy for success? Are you investing in the right places with the right people to learn from? Or are you lost and suffering from Overwhelm?
