As I’ve been learning new skills and information and marketed different aspects of what I do over the years, one of the things that I have allowed to stop me moving forward are the dreaded questions of credibility and success.
How do you create an info product or teach someone something if you haven’t been successful at it yourself?
What is your measure of success? What does Success mean to you?
How can you market your expertise if you aren’t perceived as successful?
How can you become successful if you can’t market your products and expertise?
This can be a bit of a dilemma and can have many entrepreneurs, coaches, experts, info product creators stuck in their tracks, for some time.
This is a combination of mind-set issues, and establishing credibility in your niche and with your audience.
How is it a Mind-set thing and how do I change it?
Well it’s one of those situations where ‘acting as if’ comes in.
If you know what the successful you would look like and how you’d feel and act if you were already successful then it’s about ‘acting as if’ you are already successful, you already have credibility, you are that confident expert.
And by that I mean doing the work that a successful and confident expert would do. Building relationships and audience in the way a successful expert would.
Doing the work and taking on the belief that you are already successful. How you behave and the new way you are perceived will do the rest.
If you perceive yourself as already successful you will project that attitude and aura of success and achieve credibility among those you attract.
You will create the reality of success as you perceive it.
And What About Credibility?
How do you establish credibility for yourself and others?
- You can run a beta version of your program or product and recruit a small number of ‘test clients’ on a free trial with a request that they provide feedback and testimonials.
Remember that at some point it’s up to you to decide that you’re good enough. It’s useful to define that upfront rather than creating a string of free stuff (Learning point to self).
Decide that you are successful (Previous point).
- Build up your presence online by supplying valuable, original, authentic and interesting content.
- Write articles, guest blog on expert sites.
- Accept and seek out speaking opportunities that provide you with the opportunity of sharing your knowledge and expertise.
- Interview experts in your field and publish the interviews online (YouTube, Podcasts, Social Media etc.)
Get Interviewed – offer yourself as a guest to others
Always be learning and putting out valuable information to your audience that establishes trust, credibility, likability and that allows them to get to know who you are.
Remember to use the testimonials, link to the content and believe in yourself.
Most importantly know when you’ve achieved credibility with yourself and hone that success mindset so that it becomes part of your identity.
